Caldey Island, dog friendly boat trip

These unique gold mines are set amid wooded hillsides overlooking the beautiful Cothi Valley. There are beautiful woodland walks with information boards to explore the extensive site.

Ffynone Waterfall near Abercych Pembrokeshire

Some of our guests told us about this wonderful place. It is featured in a book called the Powerful Places in Wales (Elyn Aviva & Gary White) which describes places that evoke powerful feelings, a place that has a sense of peace, life and joy.

Antiques, great prices West Wales

Many of our holiday cottage guests comment on the number of really good antique centres nearby, with really nice items at very competitive prices compared to back home (most shopping is!).

A day out to Dinefwr Castle, house and grounds

Day 2 Sunday: really nice weekend acting as tourist guides to visiting nephew and partner. Sort of on their way back home we decided to go via another national Trust property Dinefwr. Dog friendly walking and the bluebells were out in full bloom.

West Wales so much to see & do

Each week we try to make the time to go out for a day to enjoy wonderful West Wales. Last week we sent off on a road trip to Llandeilo and stopped off along the way at Talley village. What a beautiful place with a deceptive amount of interest!

Spring at its best West Wales

A wonderful sunny day here a Stallion Valley holiday cottages today. Flowers coming to life, leaf buds starting to open and birds making nests. We have resident greater spotted woodpeckers on site.

Last years goslings return

Last week our peace was shattered by the arrival of 6 honking geese. We are sure it is parents and offspring returned having survived the winter. The young now look almost as big as their parents but not as cute as in this photo from last year.

Dog friendly riverside walk

A short less than one mile return dog friendly walk along the River Teifi near Llandysul. Dogs can have an off the lead walk, please ensure you pick up and use the "pooh bins" provided allong the way.
