Dog friendly riverside walk

A short less than one mile return dog friendly walk along the River Teifi near Llandysul. Dogs can have an off the lead walk, please ensure you pick up and use the "pooh bins" provided allong the way.

It was a lovely sunny spring day here in West Wales so on the way home from collected my newly repaired chain saw, the dogs and I went for a short walk alongside the River Teifi, in nearby Llandysul.

Parking can be tricky but you can usually find a spot near the fire station south of the river in Carmarthenshire.

The path is along the other bank of The Teifi River in Ceredigion. Use the foot bridge and turn left downstream.

To the left are the river rapids which are made use of by the Llansdysul paddlers club and to the right a small park/picnic area. There are bench seats and wood carvings along the way. Kayaking through the slalom gates generally takes place at weekend.

The path can be muddy and flooded in high water but this is rare.

Across the river is The Powerhouse these days a community centre and gallery, but at one time turbines beneath the building used the power of the river to supply electricity to Llandysul and Pontwelly. Further along that bank The Tyweli River flows under a bridge into The Teifi.

To the right are rocky banks and the further along a disused quarry.

A short stretch of concrete path skirts a rocky bank overhanging the river and further on there is small beach where Kayakers can get out from the river after descending the rapids.

This where we turned around and retraced our steps unsure as to how much further there is right of access.
