Bird watching whilst dog walking today.

Today it was a wild blustery day today in West Wales but dry and quite warm! Bird watching today we had 8 red kites and had a flock of aerobatic formation flying starlings. Magnificent close formation flying and too many to count!

St Dwynwen's day is celebrated in Wales on 25 January and for the patron saint of friendship and love. The earliest known dated lovespoon is from Wales Several holiday cottage guests have popped the question and got engaged in StallionValley !

We have walked the Ceredigion Coastal path

Yesterday’s walk was our 20th, 3 miles each way from Aberystwyth to Morfa Bychan return. The photo shows Julie heading back down the cliffs to Aberystwyth. Fantastic scenery, a long steep climb and no rain!

Hot water outdoor dog shower

We have invested in a warm water outdoor shower and wash down facility for dogs or humans if you feel so inclined! All part of the dog friendly service here at Stallion Valley holiday cottages.

Coastal path between Penbryn and Llangrannog

On the way back along our wonderful coastal walk we experienced some icing on our cake… a rainbow of stunning beauty… something I think we will remember for ever.

16 red kites gliding overhead: bird watching West Wales

A grey blustery day just before dusk was enlivened by 16 red kites gliding above our heads. These birds are majestic. Most days we will see a pair in the skies over our holiday cottages but recently we are seeing much larger numbers in the winter.

West Wales at its best: Winter walking on the Ceredigion Coastal Path

It was absolutely wonderful, walking into the low winter’s sun, which was glinting on the sea and casting shadows which through the landscape into sharp relief. The dogs had a wonderful time running free off their leads for most of our walk ....

Cwm March (Stallion Valley) holiday cottages are grade 2 listed and we have maintained many of their historic features. Researching the history of the old farm is on our” to do list”. Recent news has made us realise just how old Cwm March is....
