The Towy estuary and Carmarthen Bay

The River Towy flows into Carmarthen Bay via an estuary which it shares with the River Taf, at Laugharne and the two branches of the River Gwendraeth at Kidwelly.

 

Here you will find miles of sandy beaches, peace, quiet & a choice of 3 castles.

The mouth of the Towy estuary is guarded by Llansteffan Castle, a 12th-century Norman castle.

To the east beyond Kidwelly lies Pembray Country Park & the 8 mile long Cefn Sidan Beach.

To the west Pendine beach & miles of flat golden sands where Donald Campbell set world lands speed records in the 1920’s.
