Dog Friendly Information

there are dog restrictions on parts of the beach in the summer. Lots of places with outside food & drink facilities. The castle is dog friendly.

Llansteffan ("the church of Stephen")

The village of Llansteffan ("the church of Stephen") is a small village on the sandy Towy estuary. Llansteffan village is overlooked by its magnificent ruined castle and has some pretty homes, shops, toilets and a long sandy beach.

The main car park is in the centre of the village at the foot of a steep-sided hill, from where paths lead up to Llansteffan Castle, a steep walk but the views from the top are worth it.

If the main car park is full, there is also a beach car park a little way up the estuary towards Carmarthen. The beaches are wide expanses of bright sands at low tide worked by diligent cockle- gatherers and sun-worshipers. Across on the opposite side of the estuary is the attractive village of Ferryside.

Close by in season there is a fish & chip van, pubs, shops and cafes.
