The Dolaucothi Estate– near Lampeter

The Dolaucothi Estate, owned by the National Trust is adjacent Dolaucothi Gold Mines. It is tenant farmed but has a series of signposted scenic walks ranging for 1 - 4 hours duration.

Dolaucothi is Welsh for Cothi meadows, Cothi being the beautiful River Cothi which flows through the estate.

Free parking is available in the Gold Mines car park opposite main entrance to The Dolaucothi Estate.

Romans once mined for gold here. The site of the old gold mine, on the opposite side of the road, is now managed by the National Trust and visitors will get an insight how gold miners worked from Roman times up to the 20th century ending in 1938
