Dolaucothi Gold Mines – near Lampeter
Romans once mined for gold near Lampeter, at Pumpsaint. The site of the old gold mine is now managed by the National Trust and visitors will get an insight how gold miners worked from Roman times up to the 20th century ending in 1938.

Adjacent is The Dolaucothi estate with a series of signposted scenic walks ranging for 1 - 4 hours duration.

These unique gold mines are set amid wooded hillsides overlooking the beautiful Cothi Valley. There are beautiful woodland walks with information boards to explore the extensive site.

Guided tours underground take you back to experience the conditions of the Roman, Victorian and 1930s underground workings.

Have a go at gold panning and take the opportunity to experience the frustrations of searching for real gold.
