St Dogmaels Abbey
"St Dogmael's Abbey is an abbey in St Dogmaels in Pembrokeshire, close to Cardigan and Poppit Sands. It was founded about 1115 for a prior and twelve monks of the Tironensian Order.” Wikipedia
It takes its name from Dogmael, a 6th-century Christian saint, reputedly the cousin of St David, Wales’s patron saint.
Once it was famed for its impressive library. One of St Dogmaels’ literary gems, the 13th-century Eusebius’s Historia Ecclesiastica, survives to this day in St John’s College, Cambridge.
Admission to the ruins is free and dogs are allowed on a lead.
