Photographic evidence Batty holiday cottage residents!

We, along with our holiday cottage guests, have always enjoyed the abundant wildlife including swooping bats at dusk here at Stallion valley holiday cottages.  But now we have photographic evidence.

A couple of mornings ago we found this little bundle on the doormat.  Doesn’t he/she look cute? It made high pitched squeaks, seemed a bit dazed but healthy.  So I helped it outside and in to the flower border undergrowth.  I have not seem it since so hopefully the cat did not find it and it is safe.

Not my first meeting with a bat but the first time up close encounter with a still one.  Absolutely beautiful to look at, warm to the touch and very timid. My internet research tells me it is a Common Pipistrelle.
