Pen y Badell Iron Age settlement Llangrannog
To the north of Llangrannog is the rounded hill of Pen Dinas Llochtyn which was occupied in the Iron Age around 500BC. Pen Dinas Lloctyn was a well-defended fort and an important settlement. As evidenced by the name dinas (city) rather than caer (fort).
The site of the ancient hill fort Pen y Badell is now owned by the National Trust.
The cliffs here are a hotspot for Cardigan Bay bottlenose dolphin sightings. The views across Cardigan Bay are stunning on a clear day.
To get there take the Ceredigion Coastal footpath north from Llangrannog. Access is via the steps behind the Patio Café.
