Dylan Thomas was born on October 27, 1914 at No 5, Cwmdonkin Drive in Swansea, and died on November 9, 1953 in St Vincent's Hospital, New York.

He wrote many great poems, including 'Fern Hill', 'The hunchback in the park' and of course 'Do not go gentle into that good night'. Perhaps Dylan Thomas is best known as, author of ‘Under Milk Wood’,

Worth a visit is Laugharne, Carmarthenshire a nice coastal village with castle and Dylan Thomas’ boat house, where he wrote overlooking the estuary.SA33 4SD

Poet, writer and broadcaster Dylan Thomas (1914-1953)  lived at the Boathouse in Laugharne for the last four years of his tragically short life, it is remarkable place to visit.

The Boathouse terrace has wonderful views of the Taf estuary.

It has tearoom and there is a furnished front parlour, an upstairs exhibition area showing a 24 minute film, a shop and toilet facilities.

Dylan Thomas,  made the Boathouse a permanent home and he enjoyed a creative renaissance. He worked in the Writing Shed above the Boathouse with its inspiring views over the estuary.

Dylan Thomas lived in New Quay for during the 1940s and travelled around Ceredigion visiting farms and more often pubs! 

Characters and locations in the famous ‘play for voices’ are said to be inspired by stories, people and places in and around New Quay and Ceredigion - an area he was familiar with since childhood, and described to  as ‘the most precious place in the world’.
