Spring chicks, day 10 at holiday cottage in Wales

10 days ago they hatched. They were time wasters then and they still are.

In the end hatched we 9 chix and were left with 3 infertile eggs. 8 yellow chicks with black spots and 1 black one with yellow spots.

On day 4 we were reduced to 8 chix, whilst feeding them one escaped and Hamish our Westie dog caught him for us! We were devastated and Hamish is still in disgrace.

The remaining 8 chickens are healthy and each morning when we wake up they have grown a bit more.Already their wing feathers are growing.

Hopefully they are not all cockerels and by the summer they will be laying free range eggs for our holiday cottage guests to enjoy as part of a proper breakfast in Wales.
