The Welsh Wildlife Centre, Cardigan
Yesterday was open day at The Welsh Wildlife Centre, just 20 miles away over the border in Pembrokeshire. It was a lovely sunny day to visit one of our favourite places.
The centre has lots of walks, great wildlife habitats, welcomes children and dogs and has paths suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
The River Teifi flows alongside it and feeds the marshes to the south and to the north the river flows through a scenic gorge. Cardigan town centre is just a half mile walk downriver and Cilgerran and its castle less than 2 miles upstream.
The visitor centre has excellent food, a shop and lots of information and is accessible to wheelchair users. There are wonderful views from the impressive building and areas to enjoy a drink and lunch, dogs are welcome in the pick nick area and on a sheltered terrace.
Aside from birds, insects and reptiles there are water buffalo grazing the marshes and otters, best viewed at dawn and dusk. There are also resident badgers, real and sculpted!
