West Wales, Ceredigion: a prime horse breeding area

Thursday 30th of October 2014 16:32

West Wales and Ceredigion in particular is a prime horse breeding area.

Our holiday cottages farming neighbours include the following horse specialities Welsh cobs, Arab horses, thoroughbred race horses and the master of The Llanwnnen Hunt.

Welsh cobs are a particular local speciality and nearby Aberaeron hosts an annual Welsh Cob day.

On the last Thursday of each month the local horse community and interested spectators gather in Llanybydder (15 minutes’ drive from our holiday cottages) for Europe’s biggest regular horse auction.

A great day out to soak up the atmosphere, people watch and admire the horses whilst enjoying a bacon butty and a drink.

We did just that earlier today!
