He is in love with two ladies

Our stag turkey has been head of our flock of chickens for some time now but they aren’t turkeys and he has been missing a mate.

Two days ago we finally found lady turkeys for sale, up in the hills south of Aberystwyth.

We bought two, probably recuing then from a future Xmas table.

We transported them home carefully in a dog crate along with a few chickens to revive our aging flock.

Once home we carefully to put our new birds in a separate pen so that they could be introduced gently to their new "flock mates". Stag turkey who has been very excitable of late was very subdued, eying the ladies up through the fence. We think he was trying to make a good first impression

Overnight one of our turkey ladies produced a fine egg, it is reserved for our weekend cooked breakfast, turkey eggs are big and taste delicious. Hopefully there will be a second one before then so we can have one each!

This lunchtime the barriers were down and mingling commenced. To date it has all been polite, no fights but no hugs.

Stag turkey has paid close attention to the two new lady turkeys, posing and posturing, but tonight they, he and the two ladies, "retired " to separate huts.
