Spring bird watching in Wales

A lovely sunny weekend here in Wales had us out in the garden.

It was great and for us and our holiday cottage guests to be serenaded by bird song. 

The swallows are back swooping over the ponds and birds are nesting all around.

This little beauty came to join our tea break.

I was not sure what it was so took a photo and consulted a bird book.

It is a young Robin; apparently young ones do not develop a red breast until the autumn.
