Redstarts nesting cancel holiday cottage barbeque in Wales

We have a long warm and sunny spell here in West Wales.  So when friends came to stay we decided in was about time we lit the barbeque.

Unfortunately when we took the lid off the barbeque we realised it was too late!  Redstarts had got there before us and made a beautiful nest and filled with a lovely clutch of eggs.

Our bird watching friends and holiday cottage guests can rest assured, they will not be disturbed.  We changed plans and cooked indoors.

Last year redstarts nested in the barn and raised a healthy brood.  Fingers crossed they will be as successful this year and we will have some redstart chicks for our holiday cottage bird watching guests to enjoy, later in the year.
