Holiday cottage owners’ day out: Steam railway Aberystwyth
We, along with other holiday cottage owners in Wales, were invited to a day out on The Vale of Rheidol Railway.
The railway is between Aberystwyth and Devils Bridge and the 12 mile, 1 hour journey is through one a Wales’ most beautiful valleys.
The steam trains set off from Aberystwyth and soon leave the town following the Rheidol River through rural meadow land. Gradually the track climbs as it rises above the river along the hillside. The views down and along the Rheidol Valley are superb.
After climbing nearly 700 feet the train reaches Devils Bridge. There is a café at the station and the village and waterfall walks are just a short walk away.
The railway is dog friendly providing they pay their £2.50 fare!
This was our third trip on The Vale of Rheidol Steam Railway and we enjoyed every minute. We recommend it highly to our holiday cottage guests and their children and dogs!
