Cilgerran is situated on the River Teifi in north Pembrokeshire, Wales, it has a population of just under 2000.
The principal occupations throughout Cilgerran's history were farming, salmon fishing and slate quarrying. Most slate was quarried in the Teifi Gorge, and many of the houses in the town were built from this stone.
Visit Cilgerran to see Cilgerran Castle and walk along the Teifi River through the Teifi Gorge.
There are a number of listed buildings, including the parish church and 2 pubs The Cardiff Arms (19th century) and Pendre Inn (18th century or earlier).
West Wales Wildlife Centre is nearby, where canoe trips are available from heritage canoes.
Lunches, teas and evening meals are served at The Castle Kitchen which has good reviews for home cooked food.
Free car parking is available alongside the River Teifi
